| | | In the Indonesian economic situation which is increasingly difficult, became a domestic worker is the easy choice job to pick. Especially for women and women who were still classified as children. Certainly, it can be said that the number of domestic workers in this country is very large. The number of domestic workers based on survey recorded in a five-year period to 2008 reached 2.5 million. These numbers will be increased if it associated with domestic worker employment due to poverty, dropouts, limited skills, or low levels of education, so that those who work in this profession is not valued, very vulnerable to discrimination, violence, and exploitation at work. Common problems that facing by domestic workers in their daily are lot of work load and hours worked in excess, that is not appropriate wages, inadequate facilities, breaks and holidays which is not necessarily as well as lack of social security. And the lack of domestic workers' rights to communicate, socialize and free to join association. Most of these things are not regarded as a problem. Situations and circumstances such as this could be increased, considering up to this time enforcement and protection for domestic workers do not exist. That’s why the presence of domestic workers is needed to obtain recognition of domestic workers as workers by the State or local government. |
